Why Choose Small Plates? The Benefits of a Flexible Dining Experience

Okay, so small plates menus are a growing trend for the 2024 wedding season, and for good reason! For some couples, the idea of a formal sit down plated meal doesn’t hit the right note for their day. With small plates, our couples get to mix things up and give your guests a taste of everything. Plus, it's super fun and adds an extra dash of personalisation and a modern twist to the traditional wedding breakfast format.

Small plates are a super versatile way to design a bespoke menu for your wedding with the help of your dedicated catering manager and our chefs. Think Spanish tapas, Greek meze or, go more bespoke with bite-sized portions of your favourite dishes or cuisines that mean something to you both or your story. There is so much that can be achieved within a small plates style menu creating something that's as unique and personalised as you as a couple.

This style of dining is also perfect for accommodating different dietary preferences and restrictions. Whether your guests are vegetarian, gluten-free, or just picky eaters, we can assist in creating a menu all your guests can enjoy together.

Crafting Your Dream Menu: Personalised Just for You

At Hall and Co, we're all about making your wedding memorable, especially when it comes to food! We'll work closely with you to create a menu that's totally tailored to your tastes and style.

Our team of catering experts are here to guide you every step of the way, from brainstorming ideas, and selecting the perfect dishes for your menu through to delivering with style and finesse on the day. We'll take into account your favourite flavours, dietary restrictions, and any cultural or religious considerations to ensure that every dish is suited to your vision and taste profile.

We also offer personalised private tastings so you can sample each dish before the big day. It's a chance to fine-tune your menu, meet our catering team in person, and make sure that every bite is absolutely perfect. This is also a great opportunity to discuss table design and service ware with your catering manager, ensuring every element of your wedding catering service is sleek and seamless.

Setting the Scene: Sharing, Bonding, and Digging In

One of the best things our front-of-house team notices about events that feature small plates menus is that the style brings people together. Passing and sharing dishes is a great ice breaker for guests who either don’t know each other or haven’t seen each other in a long time. Your wedding breakfast isn’t just a meal, it's a chance for you and your guests to connect, laugh, and make memories together.

Sourcing Good Stuff: Fresh, Local, and sustainable Ingredients

Here at Hall and Co, we believe in using the best ingredients, with our chefs sourcing locally, sustainably, and ethically whenever possible. From farm-fresh veggies, working with local butchers and fishmongers for our meats, and incorporating specific ingredients local to your chosen venue where suitable. Previously we have designed dishes to incorporate specific produce such as local honey’s, beers and cheeses, worked with the venue's own beef farm and included other ingredients from the region your county is synonymous with. We understand that making conscious choices when designing your wedding menu to feature elements of specific provenance can be a great way to tie in your venue and location through every area of the day and create a dish that’s even more memorable for you and your guests.

Our chef team take great care to be as sustainable as possible, minimising waste and utilising composting options where possible, as well as designing menus to fit within seasonal availability wherever possible to reduce transport miles and ensure optimal flavour and quality too!
