Charlie & Luke- At-home Marquee Wedding In The Buckinghamshire Countryside
We were so excited when Charlie and Luke reached out to us through our amazing wedding planner, Big Green Space, to book us to cater their wedding in late summer 2023.
The couple chose one of their countryside-located family homes for the elongated celebrations, with an Original Marquees elegant sailcloth marquee amidst the picturesque gardens, and a drinks reception space by the tempting outdoor pool. We provided our professional, friendly team to attend to over 150 guests over two days for C and L's wedding celebrations, alongside a menu that was elegant and filled with fresh, seasonal produce.
The Marquee Set Up
Arriving at the family home on the Friday, we were greeted by the lovely Jess on behalf of Big Green Space and a sailcloth tent, complete with ivory carpet and a round, wooden bar. We soon set to work, steaming tablecloths, polishing cutlery and running through the final details of the day. It was a joy to see both Louise’s and the couple's vision come to life with the combination of tableware selected, expertly designed stationery and the florals as they started arriving.
The entire space was however utterly transformed the morning of the wedding, when Ivy Amelia Florals and her team set to work. With trolleys upon trolleys of fresh blooms in beautiful blush tones and endless amounts of dainty glass candlesticks, the reception space came to life.
The Wedding Day
Upon their return from the local church ceremony, guests were greeted by the pool with chilled champagne, trays to the brim with Pimm's and a selection of bottled and poured beers. With everyone a drink in hand, our team began circulating trays upon trays of canapés including:
Crispy pork, ginger and spring onion lollipops
Beetroot cured salmon, scotch pancake, citrus crème fraiche and keta
Spring onion, thyme & asparagus tartlet, with a shallot and herb salad
Curried chicken poppadum crisp, mango chutney and lime pickle
Curried cauliflower poppadum crisp, mango chutney and lime pickle
After a welcoming performance from The Function Band, guests entered the marquee to tables graced with overflowing baskets of rosemary, sea salt and confit garlic focaccia, freshly sliced sourdough and a selection of whipped butter with shallot and sea salt.
We then commenced the three courses with a starter of five-spice crispy duck, cucumber, mooli, spring onion salad, coriander and lime hoisin dressing. The alternate option: burrata, heritage tomatoes, salsa verde, marcona almonds, micro basil and basil oil.
Mains were a hit, with the option of charred fillet of beef, confit chip, maple roast carrots, baby leeks and red wine sauce, or, a Moroccan spiced cauliflower steak with caramelised cauliflower puree, garlic and shallot buttered greens, lemon and coriander yoghurt, pomegranate and toasted almonds.
And the finale, a classic dessert of crème brûlée with Pimm's infused summer berries and an amaretti biscuit. Served alongside a selection of fresh tea, coffee and of course, a Limoncello luge... for those wanting to start the party right away!
The happy couple and their guests danced the night away, with a trio of cocktail options, fish and chips and pulled pork buns to fuel their dancing feet.
We returned early the next morning to continue the party, with cocktails flowing, pool party vibes and a plethora of food trucks serving delicious (hangover perfect!) dishes. What an amazing weekend, with wonderful guests and the best supplier team.
