Coastal Norfolk Autumn Wedding

A look back at J&T’s beautifully intimate autumnal wedding last October at Holkham Hall on the Norfolk coast, where our team provided Floristry and styling plus catering. With a focus on a natural aesthetic with sustainability in mind, the couple’s day came together to create a relaxed, family centred day.

With Norfolk holding many special and happy memories for the couple and their families, a celebration at the stunning Norfolk coastal estate of Holkham Hall was an easy choice. J&T visited Norfolk many times over the years, and so a proposal on the nearby Well’s beach began a new and fitting chapter to their story together.

Our team are extremely passionate about creating deeply personalised events for our clients and so we love getting to know more about our couples back story. These details enable us to curate meaningful and memorable elements together to build a dream celebration, that’s a true reflection of them as a couple.

How did the two of you meet?

"T and I met when we were both working in a department store (8 years ago, 2015). We used to buy each other sweets and snacks on our day off and take them in when the other one was working. We worked on departments opposite each other; T would often get told off for spending too much time with J and not enough time on his own department. Within a few weeks, T had invited himself to go travelling with J (we spent 6 weeks travelling across America in 2018) and we have been going on adventures ever since."

The wedding ceremony took place in the ever-impressive marble hall, before guests made their way to the Lady Elizabeth wing for cocktails and canapes. Continuing the personal family touches throughout the day the Groom wore his Grandfathers tie clip, and the father and brother of the Bride wore kilts in Douglas tartan to celebrate the families Scottish heritage.

J & T’s florals incorporated a beautiful palette of whites and greens, with hints of orange, rust and apricot. We loved creating this dreamy autumnal look, which perfectly complimented the season. J’s bouquet was filled with roses, dahlia, and ranunculus and we included dried bunny tails and scabiosa to add texture and movement to the arrangement.

For the ceremony, we lined the aisle and steps in the Marble Hall with meadow arrangements and used a mix of fresh florals, foliage and dried grasses. The palette worked perfectly in the Hall and hints of orange complimented the rich reds and oranges in the marble wonderfully. We included pillar candles in vases alongside this, which created a really romantic and elegant look.

After the ceremony, we repurposed the meadows and candles in the Lady Elizabeth Wing. We lined their long table with pillar candles and added bud vases with delicate florals. The meadows were reused alongside the couple’s signage and neon sign backdrop, and we added them at the end of the long table and alongside the station too.

Sustainability was incredibly important to the couple, and we worked with them to design something which captured the seasons and was as eco-conscious as possible. We love working with local growers where possible and Millie sourced florals from several small flower farms near our studio. These included a selection of beautiful dahlias and grasses that had been carefully foraged and dried from a local farm. Not only do choices like this help our designs to look organic and natural, but they also help to ensure that they are as sustainable as possible.

What made you choose Hall & Co for your wedding day?

"When we were planning our wedding we loved the floral decorations we had seen Hall & co create at previous weddings. It really fitted out autumnal costal aesthetic. Millie was keen to help us be as environmentally friendly as possible and meet Holkham’s sustainability goals. Once we had booked the flowers, we loved working with the team so much that we then asked them to provide the catering as well. Again with the aim of using local ingredients and produce."

Our team worked with the couple to create a menu that reflected their favourite foods and the memories they have made together. A selection of trayed Asian inspired canapes accompanied margarita and daquiri cocktails as guests mingled in the courtyard room of the Lady Elizabeth wing, and the couple ventured to the beach for some stunning portraits with their photographer.

As guests were seated for the wedding breakfast they enjoyed a meal of a bespoke Thai fishcake and mango and papaya salsa starter, followed by a main of hand pressed beef burgers, corn with a maple bacon butter and loaded fries, all inspired by their first travels together across America. A dessert station of warm double chocolate brownie, sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess, complete with fresh fruits and chocolate dipping pots then tempted guests away from their seats to start the more relaxed mingling of the evening.

Real wedding Testimonial

"Tim and I thoroughly enjoyed working with the team at Hall & Co who helped make our wedding a truly unforgettable and magical day. Millie was incredible at helping us design the flowers and styling and we enjoyed working with her so much, we asked Charlotte and the catering team to be part of the wedding too! This was one of the easiest decisions we made throughout the whole planning process. The whole team were really supportive, understanding and they brough our vision for an intimate, relaxed, autumnal wedding to life. All of the guests were eager to take home one of the floral displays and the meal was a hit with everyone (what we’d do to eat this again!) The guests still talk about how incredible the team was on the day- Thank you!"
