What Furniture Should I Have At My Wedding?

Having a lounge area is the perfect touch to bring your venue together and fill in those blank spaces. As Megan explains in our previous blog ‘Why Choose A Lounge Area For Your Wedding’ you might decide for several reasons; somewhere to sit by the bar, a relaxing space for older family members or a quiet spot for shyer guests to retreat to. The next step is choosing what to have.

Here’s the top 5 things you should consider when selecting furniture for your lounge area:

  1. Who is it for? Take into consideration who will use the lounge area the most. Elderly guests won’t want to struggle in and out of low-level seating but couples can’t always cosy up in an armchair.

  2. How many seats do I need? If you’re lounge area is in a popular location like next to the dance floor or bar, it’s good to consider a large sofa and a couple of complimentary pieces. If it’s for a more intimate setting, why not try pairing two wingback chairs with a side table.

  3. Do I need a table? If you’re lounge area is near the bar or tea and coffee station, it’s essential to have plenty of surfaces for people to put their drinks down on. You don’t want disgruntled guests with kicked over glasses.

  4. What style is the wedding? If you’re having a classic wedding why not try neutrals like our Estee or Lily sofas. If you’re having an outdoor wedding, you may want to consider outdoor seating such as our our rattan lounge furniture, perfect to go around the fit pit.

5. What colours shall I have? Neutral furniture like our Laura or Jane chairs can incorporate flowers and cushions that match your wedding colours. If you’re looking to make a statement, a bold accent chairs like Monroe or Oscar are a great way to show off your personal style.

The most important thing is to choose furniture that you want and like. Don’t feel confined to having a certain style or pieces of furniture just because you think it’s what others will want. Hiring a lounge area is a great way to show off your flair and to create a talking point at your wedding.
