A Classic Winter Wedding With a Modern Twist

A few days before Christmas, J & L’s wedding was a beautiful celebration, filled with love, laughter and pampas grass. The day took a modern twist on the classic winter wedding, with J’s design opting for a boho luxe feel.

When we initially met with J, she wanted to use a palette of off-white, icy blue and deep navy for the styling of her day. During the planning process we also introduced pampas grass and hints of copper and gold to create a more luxurious look and bohemian feel.

For the bouquet design we chose a mixture of off-white and pale blue seasonal florals, including ranunculus and eryngium, which where further complimented with lots of seasonal foliage. For J’s bouquet we also included several stems of pampas to help add colour and texture to the design, and ensure it stood out. The bridesmaids were dressed in gold sequins, which complemented the sandy tones of the pampas grass perfectly.

For the ceremony, the aisle was lined with growing arrangements filled with pampas, eucalyptus, parve and snap dragons. At the top of the aisle, was a bespoke copper frame made by J’s dad and decorated by us with off-white roses, thistles and pampas. The crowning glory was a huge pampas cloud, suspended in the main barn that framed the ceremony and created a magical centrepiece. Splashes of copper and gold in the frames and vintage candle sticks were used to contrast the whimsical pampas.

For the tables J & L chose to create a modern and luxurious feel with grey tablecloths, pale blue napkins and moody dark blue plates. The look was softened with gold cutlery and gold candles, which helped to create a cosy atmosphere. The perspex name tags and blue and gold stationary helped tie the look together. For the centrepieces we used tall stems of dried and preserved pampas in glass vases to create a subtle modern look. The simple, but elegant design allowed the bold crockery and glassware to remain the feature without overpowering it.

The day was filled with special touches and felt incredible personal and unique. All the family arranged surprises for each other, including singing waiters and gift bouquets designed by us. J & L used copper frames, built by J's Dad, to display pictures of their family and friends and look back at special moments.
